Welcome to the official website of historical novelist KAREN CHARLTON
Karen Charlton is an international best-selling writer of historical crime fiction.

Her
Detective Lavender Mysteries have sold 3/4 million copies worldwide. They're based on the fictional adventures of Stephen Lavender, a real-life detective with the Bow Street Police Office in London and his humorous sidekick, Constable Ned Woods.

Her brand new series, The York Ladies' Detective Agency Mysteries, feature a couple of enterprising young women who launch a private inquiry agency in York during WW2.

Her standalone, debut novel
Catching the Eagle is the true story of her notorious ancestor, Jamie Charlton, who was convicted of Northumberland's biggest robbery and her non-fiction genealogy book, Seeking Our Eagle, tells how she uncovered the gaol-bird in their family tree.

You can find out more about Karen and her books by following the links on the side of this page.  On the genealogy pages you can also learn more about the research which led her to the skeleton in her family closet.

There's a fascinating radio interview about Stephen Lavender further down this page, and plenty of musings about all things literary on her blog page.
